Strychnine seeds, from the Strychnos nux-vomica tree, contain toxic alkaloids like strychnine and brucine that affect the central nervous system. They can cause muscle spasms, convulsions, and respiratory failure. Due to toxicity, their use in traditional medicine is largely abandoned.
